South Africa has amongst the highest rates of teenage pregnancy and HIV in the world. Condoms are still the safest & most cost-effective intervention for sexually active youth to prevent HIV, STIs and unplanned pregnancy.

Triple Eight fostered a partnership with the Department of Basic Education to help support this cause through improved sexuality health education in schools. We developed a youthful, fresh, interactive approach to sex-ed, with innovative engaging platforms, using the dreams and aspirations of the future of teenagers to motivate behaviour change.

Three independent evaluations of CONNECT-ED have shown a 49% increase in sexual health knowledge and a 55% reduction in teen pregnancies at high schools that participated over a 3-5 year period. Over the past 10 years, CONNECT-ED has reached over 3000 high schools, 5 million high school learners and over 13 000 educators.
